'The Giving Machine' debuts in Fresno
Instead of vending snacks or drinks, The Giving Machine lets visitors buy necessities that go directly to those in need.
With the touch of a keypad, visitors can purchase meals for valley families, warm coats for cold children, and emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence from one of seven local and international nonprofits.
This year’s local participants include Hinds LifeCare, Catholic Charities, Family Healing Center, FIRM, and the Poverello House. Visitors will also be able to donate to Mentors International and USA for UNHCR.
The Giving Machine will make its debut at Fresno’s River Park on Dec. 11. The reverse vending machine will be stationed between Pink and White House Black Market until Jan. 2
All operational costs are covered by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and 100% of every donation goes straight to the cause you choose.
