CHICAGO — A man is recovering in the hospital on Thursday morning after he was shot in the eye while riding in a car overnight oin the city’s West Side.

According to Chicago police, officers first learned about the incident after the victim, a 24-year-old man, arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound just after 11 p.m.

He later told police that he was riding as a passenger in a car in the 5200 block of West Chicago Avenue, in Austin, when an unidentified individual on the street pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at the vehicle.

The injured victim was later listed in critical condition.

It remains unclear what led to the shooting and officers say no arrests have been made.
