Michael E. Bishop II was sentenced on Wednesday to a maximum of five years for each count and must register as a Tier 3 sex offender for life. According to Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham Anderson, the judge in the case, Judge Christen Finley took the prosecution’s recommendation for the maximum sentence allowed.
Bishop was found guilty in September on 10 counts of sexual battery, each a third-degree felony. Anderson says the ruling came after a two-day trial.
The prosecutor also says the conviction was the result of a full-time sexual assault investigator in the county, whose position comes from an Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services grant and a collaboration with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and the Lawrence County Commission.
