JBL’s rugged Charge 6 speaker is down to one of its lowest prices to date

The portable speaker can also charge your phone in a pinch. | Image: The Verge

As much as I love decorations, it’s the music that really gets me into the holiday spirit. Luckily for those looking to capitalize on the upcoming holiday season, JBL’s newer Charge 6 is on sale at Walmart for $154 (about $46 off), which is one of the lowest prices we’ve seen for the portable Bluetooth speaker. Now, you can play a spooky playlist outside when trick-or-treaters stop by on Halloween.

Introduced earlier this year, the Charge 6 is a robust portable speaker with an upgraded woofer and up to 28 hours of battery life with JBL’s Playtime Boost feature enabled. It leverages JBL’s AI Sound Boost feature, much like the JBL Flip 7, which analyzes your audio to deliver clearer, louder sound and reduce distortion at higher volumes. The Charge 6 even supports lossless audio through compatible music streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify, so long as you connect your phone or laptop to the speaker via USB-C.

As for ruggedness, an IP68 rating means the portable speaker can withstand accidental spills or days by the pool (it’s also drop-proof up to one meter). It also features a removable strap that makes it easier to transport and can serve as an emergency power bank in a pinch, allowing you to top off your phone. And if the speaker’s battery gets low, a quick 10-minute charge can provide up to 150 minutes of playback.

Other ways to save

  • The already-affordable CMF Buds 2A are down to $29 ($20 off) in dark gray, light gray, and orange at Amazon for Prime members. Despite their low price, the wireless earbuds punch above their weight, offering premium features like active noise cancellation, an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance, and multipoint Bluetooth support, letting you connect to two devices at once. And with the Nothing X app, you can customize the sound, adjust ANC levels, and locate the earbuds when they’re nearby.
  • With about a week to go until Halloween, now’s a great time to check out Resident Evil Village, which is down to just $9.99 ($30 off) via the PlayStation Store. (If you prefer a physical copy, you can grab the PS5 version for $14 at Amazon.) While the title doesn’t reach the great heights set by 2017’s Resident Evil 7, it once again puts players in the shoes of protagonist Ethan Winters. However, instead of a derelict plantation, Village has players explore an incredible gothic mansion filled with memorable characters — including the nine-foot-tall Lady Dimitrescu. Read our review.
  • You can get $100 worth of Nintendo eShop gift cards for $89.99 ($10 off) or $200 worth for $179.99 ($20 off) at Costco right now. When the gift cards are loaded onto your account, you can then use the balance toward new games, including the excellent Donkey Kong Bananza. This deal also aligns with a recent change that allows you to use your eShop credit in the My Nintendo Store, making it possible to buy hardware like the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller or Nintendo GameCube Controller.
