According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Jashanpreet Singh, 21, from India, entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 through the southern border and was released into the country under the Biden Administration. He faces manslaughter and DUI charges after three people died and several others were injured in a chain-reaction crash in San Bernardino County.

Dash camera footage captured the crash. It shows the big rig plowing into stopped vehicles on the westbound 10 Freeway in Ontario shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Singh was originally arrested by CHP for alleged DUI and then by ICE for immigration violations.

“It is a terrible tragedy three innocent people lost their lives due to the reckless open border policies that allowed an illegal alien to be released into the U.S. and drive an 18-wheeler on America’s highways,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “This accident follows a disturbing trend of illegal aliens driving 18-wheelers and semi-trucks on America’s roads.”

Jaspreet Singh, 21, Yuba City, is accused of entering the U.S. illegally and taking the lives of three people in a DUI big rig crash in Southern California.

McLaughlin added, “Earlier this week, DHS highlighted another fatal accident in Indiana caused by an illegal alien driving a semi-truck. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, ICE is working day-in and day-out to make America’s roads safe again.”

Singh’s arrest follows another separate incident where ICE arrested another immigrant it says was in the country illegally, who was driving a semi-truck when he allegedly struck and killed another driver.

“These tragedies follow a disturbing pattern of criminal illegal aliens driving commercial vehicles on American roads, directly threatening public safety,” the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said in a press release. “DHS law enforcement is protecting American communities every day from another senseless tragedy like this taking place in another town, to another family.”
