Halloween candy trends revealed: Reese’s, M&M’s, Hershey’s top the list

(FOX40.COM) — Halloween is right around the corner and communities are purchasing bags of candy in preparation for trick-or-treaters. Data collected by DoorDash in October 2024 shows what the country’s favorite Halloween treats were, giving some inspiration to homes across the U.S.

Nationwide, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups tops the list, with M&M’s at second place and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate ranking third.

The full list includes:

2. M&M’s
3. Hershey Milk Chocolate Bar
4. Snickers
5. Skittles
6. Nerds
7. Sour Patch Kids
8. Twix
9. Kit Kat
10. Airheads

While Reese’s ranked number one in 14 states, Snickers topped the list in California and Nevada specifically.

DoorDash officials said that they predict Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme will be the top candy for 2025, based on recent autumn orders.

Additionally, 2024 orders for Baby Pop Bottles and Dum-Dums rose, along with Strawberry Bon Bons.

“We’re seeing a real revival of comfort classics this Halloween,” Cristen Milliner, Consumer Trends Expert at DoorDash, said. “Candy has become a kind of time capsule, with millennial parents passing down the staples they grew up with, while Gen Z and Gen Alpha are reinterpreting those same treats as retro comfort. What might have once been written off as ‘cringe’ by younger generations is now being embraced as feel-good nostalgia. The resurgence of items like grandma candy and Baby Bottle Pop shows how different generations might be finding joy in the same classics, just in their own way.”
