Fire 'size of three football fields' breaks out in San Jose, officials say
SJFD is describing the fire to be approximately the “size of three football fields.” No buildings or homes are being threatened at this time, the department said.
“The park is being evacuated by Park Rangers,” SJFD posted on X at 2:52 p.m.
However, as of 3 p.m., the “rate of spread increasing due to wind picking up,” SJFD said. By 4:30 p.m., the fire is listed to be approximately 15 acres, and no evacuation orders are in place.
“Firefighters expecting to stop spread north at Sierra Rd.,” SJFD said. “Residents on Alum Rock Falls Rd. are voluntarily evacuating to Blue Oak Ranch Reserve.”
Cal Fire is also at the scene responding to the fire and providing air support.
