Darren Bailey's son, daughter-in-law, 2 grandkids killed in tragic helicopter crash
According to a social media post by the Bailey Campaign on Facebook, the crash happened in Carter County Montana, which is the southeast corner of the state, bordering South Dakota and Wyoming.
Bailey’s campaign writes:
“On Wednesday evening, Darren and his wife, Cindy, received the heartbreaking news no parent ever wants to hear. Their son, Zachary, his wife, Kelsey, and their two young children, Vada Rose, age 12, and Samuel, age 7, tragically lost their lives in a helicopter accident in Montana.”
The post goes on to say that their other grandson, Finn, age 10, was not on the helicopter and is safe.
The campaign writes that the Baileys ask for privacy as they grieve.
Last month, Bailey officially kicked off his campaign to reclaim the Republican nomination for Governor. In the 2022 election, he lost by a dozen points to Governor Pritzker.
