LAFAYETTE, LA. (
KLFY) — This week’s Athlete of the Week is Southside High School’s junior, Andi Clement.

Clement is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and multi-time LHSAA State Champion, Clement trains year-round with Crawfish Aquatics Lafayette and will compete for the Iowa State Swimming and Diving Cyclones.
“It’s one of the ways I found, like my closest friends, like I know people who have left to go to college that I still keep in touch with.” Clement said. “The community surrounding the whole sport is great. It’s interesting. It’s it’s always something fun and something where you can learn to it, which I think it’s just that I just love improving and getting better. So I think that’s the big reason.”
Clement shared how she plans to attend college at Iowa State and feels like it would provide her the opportunity to pursue her passion in swimming and excel in her education.
“On my recruiting trip, like, the girls were amazing.” Clement said. “The campus is also very beautiful. And even just seeing how, like with the girls, how they all kind of interact with each other during practices. I’m one very big for team culture. I think that was my big thing, like growth and team culture going into where I wanted to go to college, and like they just kind of check-marked every pot, like every box.”
Clement said she plans to begin class at Iowa State in the Fall of 2027 and looks forward to what the future has in store for her.
