FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman was arrested in Fresno after leading officers on 130-mile car chase from Clovis to Tulare and back towards Fresno again on Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Shortly before 1 p.m., Clovis Police were told about a woman slumped over inside a car at Darrell’s Mini Storage near Willow Avenue and Behymer Avenue in Clovis. When officers arrived, the car drove away. Officers chased the vehicle into Fresno and eventually onto Highway 99 – where CHP took over.

The driver made their way onto southbound Highway 99, where CHP says their helicopter followed the driver, who was reaching speeds of 90 mph. Officers report she reached the south end of Tulare near Tipton before she turned around and headed back towards Fresno.

CHP says they deployed several spike strips, all of which she was able to avoid, before they used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle near Golden State Boulevard and McKinley Avenue. Officers say they had to break a window on the vehicle to get the driver out.

The driver has been named as 36-year-old Rebekah Madison of Fresno.

Officers report Madison was arrested, but added that other circumstances are being investigated as well. The vehicle was also impounded.
