West Jordan man charged with trafficking fentanyl pills into Ogden

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — A West Jordan man was arrested and charged with trafficking 2,000 fentanyl pills into Ogden.

Yerlin Abraham Valle-Gomez, 24, has been charged with one count of trafficking of fentanyl, a first-degree felony.

According to charging documents, agents with the Weber Morgan Narcotics Strike Force learned of a person bringing large amounts of fentanyl pills into the Ogden area. They conducted surveillance after getting information about the specific vehicle being used.

Agents conducted a traffic stop, and the driver was identified as Valle-Gomez. In the vehicle, agents found a large number of blue pills that were marked “M30.” The pills were suspected to be fentanyl, and when Valle-Gomez was questioned, he allegedly admitted to driving 2,000 fentanyl pills to Ogden to sell them. He also allegedly said that he knew they were drugs.

Reportedly, Valle-Gomez is also in the country without proper legal documentation, and the arresting officer stated that he has no ties to Weber County or the United States. As such, police requested he be held without bail, also noting the threat he allegedly posed to the public by distributing such a large amount of fentanyl pills.

Valle-Gomez was booked into the Weber County Jail on October 16, and he is being held without bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 23.
