Spirit Christmas is expanding: 30 locations announced across 13 states

(NEXSTAR/WHTM) – It may seem like Spirit Halloween has only just taken over your nearest shuttered Rite Aid and Party City locations, but some may soon become Spirit Christmas locations within weeks.

Spirit Christmas, Spirit Halloween’s more joyous (yet similarly fleeting) sister retailer, is planning to open dozens of shops across the Northeast and Great Lakes regions. The official website for Spirit Christmas currently lists 30 locations across 13 states, many of which are opening in spaces formerly occupied by retailers including JoAnn Fabrics, Bed Bath & Beyond and Party City.

The majority of the announced locations will open in November, though some are listed as opening by the end of October. One location in Mays Landing, New Jersey, is already open, according to the Spirit Christmas website.

Inside the shops, customers can expect “thousands of stocking stuffers, holiday apparel, fun gifts, unique décor, inflatables, plus all the special trimmings for creating an unforgettable Christmas,” the site explains. Many of the locations will also be offering a chance to take photos with “Santa” beginning on Nov. 21. (Customers can currently book sessions at the official Spirit Christmas website.)

Spirit Spencer Holdings, the parent company of Spirit Christmas and Spirit Halloween, had opened only eight Spirit Christmas locations in 2024, which marked the Xmas-themed retailer’s first year in business.

A representative for the company told Nexstar that many of this year’s Spirit Christmas locations will also be opening in the same spaces currently occupied by Spirit Halloween shops — and almost as soon as Halloween is over.

“Halloween store operations conclude on November 1, after which our dedicated teams will work diligently to complete each store’s transformation,” the representative said.
