Silver Lake’s Harvest Home celebration featured a bazaar, lunch and dinner. All of the food and goods on display were made by members of the town’s United Methodist Church. This tradition dates back 99 years, celebrating Silver Lake’s farming background.
“It is a lot of work to put on, and it takes a lot of people to step up and make it work, and we’ve even got some friends of ours from the community that look forward to come and help every year,” said Kathy Kinsch, church treasurer and head of Harvest Home. “We’ve got some folks that have never come to our church, we’ve got some folks that have come to our church when they were growing up, and they just like coming back and help now, and it’s just such a wonderful community event that draws a lot of people in.”
This annual celebration made changes over the years like introducing a drive-thru option during the Covid-19 pandemic.
