Man who shot himself with officer’s gun was a former deputy, Fresno Police say
Police named him as former Madera County Sheriff Deputy Isaac Hare. He was 32 years old.
Hare agreed to meet police outside their substation on Monday after being linked to a theft at Best Buy on Oct. 11 and impersonating an officer at the same location in September.
Outside the substation, police say Hare resisted arrest and officers were forced to Tase him. After being arrested, police say they found a concealed loaded firearm in a satchel he was wearing.
He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, as is protocol when someone is Tased. Upon arrival, he asked to use the restroom. That’s when police say he attacked an officer, disarmed him, and then shot himself in the head.
