Fallen tree causes power outage in southwest Topeka
Evergy is reporting that around 1,700 of its customers are out of power as of 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 21 in an area in southwest Topeka. This area includes homes and businesses near Southwest Fairlawn Road and Southwest 21st Street.
A majority of those impacted by the outage have had their power restored. Evergy reports power should be turned back on for the remainder of the area by 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 21.
Courtney Lewis with Evergy said a tree fell on a power line, resulting in the outage. You can check the Evergy power outage map by clicking here.
“We have restored power to some customers by rerouting through other circuits,” Lewis said. “A crew is working on repairs needed to restore power to the remaining customers.”
