Alexandria ballet students excel at prestigious summer programs
The Alexandria-based academy, known for its classical Russian and French ballet training, announced that Lily Hetherwick, Payton Dauzat, Camille Hamilton, and Naomi Pollock represented Central Louisiana at elite programs across the country this summer.
Hetherwick attended The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia, one of the world’s most competitive ballet programs. Dauzat trained for five weeks at Boston Ballet School, impressing instructors with her strong classical technique. Hamilton completed a four-week intensive at Ballet Chicago, known for cultivating the next generation of professional dancers. Pollock joined the Ballet Magnificat! summer program in Jackson, Mississippi, recognized for its faith-based artistry and technical excellence.
“These young dancers continue to raise the bar for our academy,” said Sarah Ochs Ranson, Owner and Artistic Director of Get To The Pointe Ballet Academy. “Their success at these elite programs proves that world-class talent is being cultivated right here in Alexandria.”
The studio also announced the return of its beloved holiday performance, Frosty the Snowman Ballet, which will premiere Friday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center, located at 1202 Third St. in Alexandria.
Featuring all-new choreography and production design by Ranson, the ballet will star the academy’s full ensemble – including the four summer program honorees – in an original retelling of the classic holiday story.
Frosty the Snowman Ballet promises an evening of movement, music, and magic, offering a family-friendly holiday tradition for audiences of all ages.
