This Utah city has the most affordable apartment rentals in the U.S.
According to a new report released by Zillow, 97.3% of apartments in Ogden cost less than $2,760 for the fairly high median household income of about $110,412. The listing company analyzed metros across the country to find some of the most affordable apartments.
Provo came in at seven with over 92% apartments listed below $2,700 and Salt Lake City was at 11, having lesser rental options compared to Denver and Austin.
Apartment rentals in Utah have definitely more than doubled compared to a decade ago and some Utahns have been looking to rent in hopes of just finding an affordable place to live in.
When it comes to multifamily rentals that are below $1,000, Ogden had nearly 13% vacancies as compared to Salt Lake City (6.5%) and Provo (7.5%).
The report also stated that it is becoming extremely difficult to find apartments that cost less than $1,000 per month in the 100 largest cities in the U.S. Only 13 cities have more than a third of their available apartments listed as under $1,000 per month, according to Zillow. Wichita had the highest share of apartment listings (54%) within that budget.
According to the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, change in rental rates along the Wasatch front have slowed down in the past two years.
But housing affordability still remains on top of mind for most Utahns.
