CHICAGO (WGN) — Chicago continues to remember beloved “Cheers” star and hometown treasure George Wendt, the late sitcom legend who got his start in comedy at the famous Second City.
The theater is hosting a memorial Monday night in honor of Wendt, who died in May at the age of 76. The celebration comes one day after locals in the Chicago’s Beverly neighborhood gathered with city officials to officially dedicate a stretch of Bell Avenue between 91st Street and 92nd Place as “George Wendt Way.”
