
Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday to 695 Justice Way, the address for the county jail and CJC, for a reported jail break. Indianapolis Metropolitan police confirmed they are assisting the sheriff’s office in searching for an escaped inmate at the CJC.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said around 1 p.m. that the prisoner, an adult male, was a Marion County Community Corrections arrestee who escaped their custody before making it into a secure area of the CJC. He had on leg irons and handcuffs when he fled.
IMPD confirmed around 12:30 p.m. that the inmate was last seen wearing the cuffs and shackles as well as a black jacket and blue jeans. Police said he was seen fleeing north.
Police said drones are now being utilized in the search. Marion County sheriff’s deputies and K9s were seen along Southeastern Avenue searching a nearby homeless encampment.
FOX59/CBS4 crews in the area saw investigators parked along Southeastern Avenue. Police also provided the following image of an immediate search area on the city’s near east side.


“Please stay vigilant and call 911 immediately if you see anyone matching this description,” IMPD said.
