The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Stephen Hicks on Raye Drive, and he appeared for the first time in court on Monday.
Davidson County deputies went to Raye Drive at the request of a family member.
Someone called in that they got a text message from Hicks indicating he had harmed family inside the house. Deputies then proceeded to conduct a wellwafe check and discovered the crime scene.
Deputies found Hicks with minor self-inflicted wounds and two people dead in the home. Those victims are 76-year old June Hicks and 45-year-old Stephen Eric Hicks.
Hicks appeared in court in a jumpsuit and handcuffed. He spoke only once and quietly asked the judge for a public defender for the case.
In court, the prosecutor said it was their understanding that Hicks had provided a confession, and the state asked for no bond because of the violent double murder.
Hicks will remain in the Davidson County jail with no bond.
His next hearing as of the first appearance is schedueld for Nov. 3.
