Maine man identified as victim killed in Interstate wreck
SWATARA – A Maine man was killed in a crash late Sunday night on Interstate 81.
State Police at Frackville identified the victim as Scott McAlpine, 61, of Jay.
Troopers said the crash happened around 8:30pm on Interstate 81 Northbound near milepost 111.7 in Frailey Township.
McAlpine was driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck when the vehicle left the shoulder, drove through the grass median, and struck a grass and rock embankment.
The truck, troopers said, became airborne and landed on Route 25 below the underpass.
McAlpine was pronounced dead at the scene.
First responders from Donaldson, Newtown, and Tremont all responded.
