All the proceeds support melanoma research, treatment, and prevention awareness through Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte.
The tournament is co-presented by Gee Family Foundation (administered by JHG Financial) and Kreshon Family, LLC, and was established in memory of Jerri Kreshon.
The Kreshon family wants to encourage everyone to protect their skin from the sun and the damage it can cause to their body.
“We started this tournament a year after our mother died in 2005. Melanoma, which had spread inside her body, and a lot of people aren’t aware that skin cancer can grow inside your body, but that’s what we’re trying to do today is make everybody aware of it,” said the daughter of Jerri Kreson, Kathy Carver.
The Tournament has raised $1.5 million since its inception. Queen City News Anchor Brien Blakely was Monday’s emcee.
