Envoi Launches Express Lane For Next-Gen UHR & Immersive Content

Envoi, a multi-cloud data management and data protection solutions provider, has introduced a new solution, Envoi Express Lane, for managing the demands of distributing high volume immersive and ultra-high resolution (UHR) content. The new integrated solution will be released for early access NAB Show New York (Oct. 22-23 in the Javits Center), with complementary access for owners of Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65, Blackmagic PYXIS 6K, Blackmagic PYXIS 12K, Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, and Blackmagic Camera ProDock, and PacGenesis, Melrose Mac, RebootCS and Storage.Media customers.

Envoi Express Lane integrates with multiple partner solutions to deliver a comprehensive managed cloud storage, media management workflow automation and distribution platform, designed to manage the volume of data produced during immersive content production.

UHR cameras such as the Blackmagic URSA Cine 17K 65 generate extremely large files because they capture immense amounts of data for high fidelity and detail. The Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera for capturing content for Apple Immersive Video produces even larger video files because it uses dual 8k sensors for stereoscopic immersive image capture. With the integrated Envoi Content Distribution solution, UHR and immersive content producers will be able to bring high volumes of video content to the cloud quickly and easily using Envoi’s 400 Gbps internet connection, while also leveraging storage and media asset management services, for fast and efficient content production workflows, the company says.

The solution leverages various partner solutions at each stage of the workflow. For data transfer and storage, AWS Data Transfer Terminal provides secure physical locations for quick transfer of data to AWS, IBM’s Aspera enables secure and fast data transfer, and Data Expedition provides high performance data transfer. Additionally, the solution includes support for deploying both Qumulo’s Cloud Native Qumulo platform and the WEKA storage platform in AWS, and also they are launching archiving to virtual tape library with the integration with Geyser Data which provides cold data cloud archive storage to LTO-9 tape.

For media processing and management, the solution leverages: Hiscale’s FLICS for scalable video transcoding; Dolby OptiView for transcoding, Dolby Hybrik API integration for media processing; Accurate.Video product suite for media workflow applications, and iconik for media asset management. Envoi has fully integrated Blackmagic Cine Immersive .BRAW footage proxy transcoding and distribution to iconik. It also facilitates the use of virtual desktops with added support for deploying DaVinci Resolve on MacOS based EC2 using newly release instance types mac2-m4.metal and mac2-m4pro.metal, and for deploying the DaVinci Resolve on the Linux based g6.48xlarge EC2, enabling high performing transcoding (e.g. 11 minutes to transcode a 90 minute 17K Blackmagic .BRAW file). For delivery of Stereoscopic Video (3D Video), the solution supports Dolby Vision Profile 20 using Dolby Hybrik, as well as Ateme Titan File. The solution also leverages service partners Melrose MAC and Storage.Media.

Christoph Jurkuhn, Hiscale CEO, says: “Ultra-high resolution and immersive content productions produce huge volumes of data which if not managed correctly, will cause productions to drag. With this integrated solution, alongside Envoi, we’re bringing together the best of high-speed data transfer, intelligent storage, and trusted partner media processing technologies, to give content producers working with ultra-high resolution and immersive formats a way to manage and process their content quickly and efficiently.”

Nicholas Stokes, CEO, Envoi Cloud, adds: “As consumer demand for immersive experiences increases, there’s a growing need for workflow solutions designed especially to meet the specific requirements of this type of production. This integrated solution does just that, by bringing together best-in-class technologies across the media workflow.”
