
The SLCPD said that crews responded to a report of an auto-pedestrian accident at 500 South 300 West around 7:30 p.m. on Monday evening.
Preliminary information suggests a car was driving westbound on 500 South when it struck Scott Hunt, 59, while he was crossing the roadway on a bicycle near 300 West.
Officers from the SLCPD Central Patrol Division, Salt Lake City Fire, and Gold Cross responded and treated Hunt.
Hunt was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries several hours later, SLCPD reported.
Police shared that the driver of the car remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
