ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Abilene Philharmonic is celebrating its 75th season.

Music Director and Conductor of the Abilene Philharmonic, David Itkin, stopped by the Digital Studio to speak on upcoming performances at the Abilene Convention Center, the makeup of this year’s orchestra, and how the organization is working to attract new concert attendees while keeping those who have enjoyed musical performances in Abilene throughout the years.

“This is an orchestra of professional people who come from all over Texas and surrounding states to come and play here seven times a year and make our symphonic season,” added Itkin. “A few of the musicians are from Abilene, but many of them are traveling long distances to come and play here because they love being in Abilene. They love playing together. It’s an extraordinary family.”

The next performance is Saturday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Abilene Convention Center. It’s called ‘An Evening With Leonard Bernstein.’
