RIDGELAND, Miss. (WJTV) – Ridgeland police announced a mother was arrested after she allegedly left her children unattended for several hours.

Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers said officers responded to Sunchase Apartments on William Boulevard after receiving a call about a flooded apartment. Maintenance opened the apartment after no one answered the door.

Once inside, officers said they found a two-year-old boy unclothed, wandering the apartment. They said a two-year-old girl was found asleep in a crib.

According to Myers, the bathtub was left running which had flooded the apartment and had also begun to seep through the ceiling of the apartment below.

The police chief said multiple attempts to contact an adult were made without any response.  Officers took custody of the children and contacted Child Protective Services (CPS) for assistance.
