Small towns all across Minnesota are receiving grants to improve their communities.
The state is awarding more than $20 million dollars through the Small City Development Program to support economic development.
The city of St. Joseph in Stearns County is receiving a nearly $300,000 grant to improve about a dozen homes.
“It’s absolutely fantastic and we’re so excited,” St. Joseph Community Development Director Nate Keller said. “We’re very lucky and appreciative the state offers grants to communities like ours to help bridge those gaps and accomplish goals.”
The grants are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The state is giving out the money to 33 cities and counties across greater Minnesota. The money will serve families with low or moderate incomes.
