Search resumes for missing kayaker on Mountain Island Lake

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The search for a missing kayaker on Mountain Island Lake has resumed Monday morning, after being paused due to weather Sunday night.

Crews from the Huntersville Fire Department are back on the water Monday, assisting East Lincoln Fire and Denver Fire near the Highway 73 bridge.

The kayaker was first reported missing Sunday evening, and emergency crews began their search around 7 p.m. However, the search was suspended around 8:52 p.m. due to worsening weather conditions.

Officials are urging the public to use caution in the area and to yield to all emergency units responding on the water and roadways.
