GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (
ABC4) — President Jeffrey R. Holland of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other leaders were on hand to dedicate the newest LDS temple in Grand Junction.
Holland, President of the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles, officially dedicated the third operating temple in Colorado, behind the Denver Temple, dedicated in 1986, and the Fort Collins Temple, dedicated in 2016. Former President Russell M. Nelson announced the Colorado Springs Temple in 2023, which is currently in the planning and design phase.
Holland spoke during the dedication ceremony, saying that in a time of division, hostility and dishonesty, the temple is a place of instruction, peace, cleanliness and divine covenants, “a world as close to God’s world as we can find in mortality.”
Former President Nelson announced the Grand Junction Colorado Temple during General Conference in April 2021. The groundbreaking was held in April 2022, and an open house was held in September of this year.
The Grand Junction Temple is the 210th operating temple in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
