Canvas is an online platform used by educational institutions for organizing course materials, facilitating communications and streamlining assignments for both instructors and students. It is a primarily web-based software that educators of all levels and even businesses use to provide online, hybrid and in-person learning opportunities.
The outage was originally reported by parent company Instructure just after 2 a.m. on Oct. 20. CST. As of 3 p.m. on Oct. 20, the issue is has yet to be resolved.
Canvas is used by the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and Emporia State University. Students are currently unable to access their course work and class information.
