Helicopter crash leaves 5 people hospitalized in Huntington Beach
According to our sister station, KTLA in Los Angeles, the crash happened near Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach at around 2:00 p.m. by Cars N Copters on the coast event site in front of the Waterfront Beach Resort.
Details are still being gathered; however, Huntington Beach Police Department told KTLA two people were on board the helicopter and both made it out. Three people in the street were injured and taken to the hospital.
At this time, it is unknown what caused the helicopter to crash.
In Sacramento, the medical helicopter that crashed on Highway 50 on Monday evening claimed the life of Susan “Suzie” Smith, a nurse from Redding who worked for REACH on Saturday morning.
The flight radar is showing that the helicopter that crashed is operated by REACH Air Medical Services, registered as N414RX.
The two other people who were involved in the crash have been identified as pilot Chad Millward, who’s in critical condition, and paramedic Margaret Davis, who’s also in critical condition but both are expected to recover.
The National Transportation Safety Board released a statement on X on Tuesday morning, said they are investigating the crash.
As of Saturday afternoon, no update has been released on what caused the helicopter crash.
