Attempted murder suspect in double stabbing case in custody
The VCSO says it has arrested Bryan Douglas Schini in connection with the stabbing of two Evansville residents at a southeast-side home.
Deputies say Schini is charged with two counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Burglary.
UPDATE 1
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) is investigating an incident in which two Evansville residents were stabbed at a southeast-side home, and the suspect was reportedly struck with a plastic dolphin.
Deputies note the suspect, Bryan Douglas Schini, is wanted for two counts of Attempted Murder.
The VCSO says on October 19, around 10:08 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1900 block of Meridian Drive in reference to a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies say they located a victim suffering from a defensive knife wound to his hand. Deputies say a second victim, who had reportedly been stabbed in the back, had already left the scene and was not immediately located.
Deputies say witnesses told them that Schini arrived at the residence around 8 p.m. He had allegedly been told multiple times in recent weeks not to return due to increasingly erratic behavior. Schini reportedly entered the home uninvited and allegedly began acting belligerently toward the occupants. During the encounter, he allegedly stripped down to his boxer shorts and made disturbing comments about killing one of the residents. According to the witness accounts, after being asked repeatedly to leave, he eventually complied and left the residence.
Deputies say they learned a short time after Schini initially left, one of the victims exited the home and was reportedly immediately attacked by Schini, who had allegedly been lying in wait outside. Deputies say armed with a knife, Schini reportedly stabbed the victim at least once and allegedly attempted to stab him in the head. Deputies say the second victim reportedly rushed outside to help, and the struggle continued back inside the residence. Authorities learned during the altercation, the second victim sustained a laceration to his hand. Deputies were told the second victim struck Schini with a plastic dolphin, forcing Schini to flee the residence.
Deputies were told Schini fled the scene in a vehicle, and the victim who had been allegedly stabbed in the back was later located at an eastside apartment. VCSO says the victim’s injuries were determined to be serious but not life-threatening and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities say the second victim refused medical treatment at the scene.
The VCSO says at this time, Schini has not been located. A no-bond arrest warrant has been issued charging him with two counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Burglary. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is assisting in the search.
Deputies say Schini should be considered dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 421-6339.
