Richmond Police officer in 3 vehicle crash responding to call

RICHMOND, Ind. — Four people, including a Richmond Police officer have been injured following a three vehicle crash.

According to the Richmond Police Department, around 10:31 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to a domestic disturbance.

While officers were on the scene, a physical altercation between a suspect and officers occurred. Additional assistance was called for by an officer.

While responding to the scene, an RPD patrol car was involved in a three-vehicle crash.

The patrol car struck the rear of a black Lincoln MKZ, which then collided with a gold Ford Ranger.

All three drivers and a passenger of the Lincoln MKZ were all transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The Indiana State Police have assumed responsibility for investigating the crash. 

RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly issued the following statement.

We’re aware of the incident and are closely monitoring the well-being of all involved. In keeping with our commitment to transparency, the Indiana State Police have assumed the investigation.”
