NESBIT, Miss. — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting involving the Desoto County Sheriff’s Office, deputies confirm. 

The incident happened at a residence on Bankston Road in Nesbit after deputies responded to a noise complaint. Authorities were informed that a subject at the location had been discharging a weapon.

According to officials, the individual fled into a nearby wooded area and later returned, displaying the weapon toward deputies. Deputies fired their weapons, fatally injuring the subject.

No deputies were physically hurt during the incident.
