ASCAP announced the lawsuit on Wednesday and is accusing the establishments of refusing “to pay songwriters while profiting from their music.”
One Thirteen Brewhouse + Rooftop bar on 113 North Greene Street in Greensboro is among the 10 venues named in the lawsuit.
ASCAP claims that it made “numerous attempts” to contact the establishments named in the lawsuit to offer licensing and the establishments “repeatedly refused” them.
ASCAP describes itself as “a membership association that represents more than one million songwriters, composers and music publishers.”
