Bay Area weather: Stratus and fog cause reduced visibility Sunday morning

(KRON) — Stratus and fog are covering much of the Bay Area this morning, with reduced visibility in places such as Half Moon Bay. The marine layer is shallow—around 500 feet—and beginning to break up offshore, but low clouds may linger along the coast. Clearing is expected by mid to late morning.

Daytime highs will reach the mid to upper 70s in Bay Area valleys. Coastal areas under persistent cloud cover will stay cooler, in the 60s to near 70.

Tonight, offshore winds will strengthen in higher elevations, with gusts of 20 to 30 mph expected through Monday morning. These winds should keep the marine layer shallow and limit its inland spread.
