Woman shot, killed while getting off private bus on South Side

CHICAGO (WGN) – A woman was shot and killed early Saturday morning while getting off a private bus on the city’s South Side.

Chicago police said the shooting happened at around 12:40 a.m. in the 5400 block of South Shields Avenue in the Fuller Park neighborhood.

A 40-year-old woman was getting off a private bus when a suspect pulled out a gun from within the bus and fired shots at her, hitting her in the right thigh, according to investigators.

Police said paramedics with the Chicago Fire Department treated her at the scene before taking her to University of Chicago Hospital where she died.

No arrests have been made and Area One Detectives are investigating.
