LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Humidity has returned to Acadiana leading to summer weather once again.
Temperatures today will rise fast, reaching the 80s by lunchtime and near 90 degrees this afternoon. Sun and clouds will mix with an isolated rain chance along the coast for the afternoon.
Tonight, clouds will work their way through the area as temperatures settle near 70. Humidity will remain high.

Saturday begins with sun and clouds before storms develop during the afternoon hours. Most areas will miss out on the storms, but be prepared to bring outdoor activities indoors if the storms do find you.

A few storms could be strong or severe, with damaging wind gusts being the main concern. This threat will return early Sunday morning as a front moves through the area. This front will bring cooler and drier conditions Sunday afternoon.

In the tropics, we are monitoring a system off the East Coast that has a low chance of development over the next week. It will remain over open Atlantic waters.
We’re also following a tropical wave moving through the southern Atlantic that has a better chance of development once it reaches the Caribbean next week.

Locally, we will see more nice, pleasant fall weather returning to the area next week. Mornings will see cool conditions in the 50s before temperatures warm into the lower 80s during the afternoon hours with bright sunshine.
