Man found guilty of first-degree murder in Holmes County
HOLMES COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was found guilty of first-degree murder after a two-day trial in Holmes County.

According to prosecutors, Melvin Day was found guilty on October 16, 2025, in connection to the shooting death of Jordan Perry, 28.

Pickens police responded to a shooting at the Citgo gas station on Highway 51 on September 14, 2024. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators said they obtained surveillance video from the Citgo, which showed Day and Perry engaging in an altercation before Perry was shot.

Prosecutors said Day was sentenced to life in prison plus 10 years.
