According to the Idaho State police, they have made an arrest of a man who allegedly claimed that a bomb was placed at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise and at a private company in Pocatello.
On October 8, 2025, at approximately 10:14 a.m., the Pocatello Police Department were dispatched to a property management company in Pocatello. A man allegedly called the company multiple times and made statements that threatened violence.
The threats reportedly included threats to “blow them up”.
Around 10:35 a.m., employees located at the Len B Jordan (LBJ) building at the Idaho State Capitol complex also reported that they were receiving multiple threatening calls, all of which came from the same phone number.
In the first phone call to the LBJ building, the male caller claimed that there was a bomb in the building. He left two additional voicemails, which included threatening language that were “consistent with the initial call”. The capitol was reportedly evacuated as a precaution and law enforcement determined that there were no explosives.
The alleged caller, who has only been identified as a 58-year-old man, was taken into protective custody on October 8. On October 14, investigators were able to match the voice of the man and the voice on the Capitol threat recordings.
On October 16, the man was arrested and booked into the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office jail on one felony count of flse reports of explosives in public or private places.
While the investigation is ongoing, Idaho State Police stated that they “thank the Pocatello Police Department and the Idaho Department of Administration for their coordinated efforts in working the case.”
