Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan said a suspect in a vehicle reported stolen out of Connecticut was wanted in connection with a larceny that occurred earlier on Beech Street.
At around 10:50 a.m., officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Chief Keenan said the driver hit a police cruiser head-on before nearly striking several officers and taking off. The Holyoke officer involved is expected to be okay, the police chief.
The vehicle reached speeds of 95 mph, according to Massachusetts State Police, and took off into Connecticut on I-91 South, where Connecticut State Police troopers assisted in the pursuit.
The suspect crashed near Exit 32. He was arrested and taken to a hospital, Keenan said. Police have not yet provided the suspect’s name and information on charges.
