First Warning: Some heat relief arrives next week
AUSTIN (KXAN) — We’ve heard your cries, and finally, it appears some minor heat relief will arrive after a cold front around the middle of next week.
While a cold front this weekend will bring only a brief temperature drop with a slim rain chance, a second cold front is expected to knock temperatures down more consistently next week.
Our long-term computer model guidance is consistently bringing a cold front sometime Tuesday of next week that will bring an end to the consistent 90s.
There’s even signs that we may see Austin’s first nights in the 50s at Camp Mabry since last spring. The coolest we’ve been in Austin this fall, so far, has been the low 60s.
Will it feel cold? No. Will we get much rain with this second cold front? It doesn’t appear so. Will temperatures finally turn cooler than they’ve been all October? It looks like it.
Stay with the First Warning Weather Team as we work out the details that may shift a little bit over the coming days.
Still, there’s room for cautious optimism that it might start feeling more like early fall and less like late summer.
