The Indy Fuel take on the Fort Wayne Komets in Friday night’s home opener.
“Everyone is pretty fired up around here,” said Christopher Cameron, one of the team captains. “It’s always exciting to start a new season. We love playing in our new facility over there in Fishers and looking forward to hopefully giving the fans a good show!”
Leading up to Friday night’s home opener, the team has been hard at work practicing at the Fuel Tank.
“Every year is a fresh slate,” said Larry McQueary, president of the Indy Fuel. “Every year we have high expectations and this year is no different.”
Last year, almost half of the games sold out as the team played for the first time at the Fishers Event Center. This year, the hope is to sell out even more games. A majority of this year’s roster is brand-new, coming from all over including Canada, Massachusetts, Michigan, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
“This is probably the biggest change we’ve had as far as bringing new guys in, so we are just looking for a fresh start,” McQueary said. “We play two great teams this weekend, so we will see what we are about right away.”
The team is going all out for the home opener with pregame festivities starting 90 minutes before the puck drops. Opening Night Fan Fest will feature live music, games, giveaways, and more.
“I have high expectations that Friday will sell out,” McQueary said. “We need our fans to get fired up!”
Friday night’s game officially starts at 7 p.m. and doors open one hour before. Fans attending the home opener will receive a free rally towel.
The team will be back in action on Saturday for Military Appreciation Night as they take on the Toledo Walleyes.
