TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Several firefighters from across East Texas have been deployed to help with ongoing disaster relief efforts in Kerrville this week.

Through the TIFMAS program, the State of Texas has requested additional resources to assist in Kerr County after the area was hit by deadly floods on July 4.

Smith County ESD2 members, who are part of TIFMAS Strike Team 174, were deployed to Kerrville as a “Saw Mod” team. ESD2 officials said the team could potentially be deployed to other areas to help with disaster relief across the state.

On Saturday, the Lufkin Fire Department deployed one of their type IV engines to Kerrville to help with ongoing search and recovery efforts. Capt. Modisette and DO Murray are joining with other departments as a part of TIFMAS Strike Team 25-174.
