4 injured in overnight drive-by on Near North Side

CHICAGO — An early-morning drive-by shooting on the city’s Near North Side left four people hospitalized on Friday.

According to Chicago police, the shooting unfolded just after 3:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of North Dearborn Street in Gold Coast.

Officers say the victims were on a sidewalk in the area when a gray Acura sedan approached and someone inside the vehicle opened fire, striking four people.

The sedan then fled the scene, heading southbound along Dearborn.

In total, officers said a 22-year-old woman, a 60-year-old man, a 45-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were all struck by gunfire and later hospitalized in good condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting.

Officers were spotted on the scene around 6:15 a.m. and appeared to be focusing their investigation on the intersection of West Division Street and North Deaborn Street.

Several evidence markers and ambulances were also spotted on the scene.
