KXAN has confirmed that running back Jerrick Gibson is leaving the program. The sophomore carried the ball just one time total in Texas’ last two games.
Gibson, a four-star prospect out of high school, committed to Texas over other major programs like Georgia, Alabama and Miami (Florida). He impressed as a freshman with 387 yards and four touchdowns.
This year, Gibson amassed 152 yards and one touchdown. He’s able to preserve his redshirt for this season.
Kicker Will Stone is also leaving the program, KXAN has confirmed. Stone, an Austin native, has served as the kickoff specialist for Texas football.
Texas Gameday is the official pregame show of Texas football and airs an hour before kickoff every week. This week, you can watch on KBVO at 5 p.m. ahead of the Longhorns matchup with Kentucky in Lexington.
