“You do not know what you’re getting when you buy drugs on the street. You don’t know the source where it comes from,” says Sticker. “It is either melted down and injected or it’s smoked. We’re seeing a liquid form where it could be put in vapes, so you know the vapes less is a big thing among our youth.”
WGNO spoke with one community member who says he’s especially concerned about how the opioid epidemic may impact the youth.
“I think It’s dangerous. There are new things coming up all the time. You always have to be on the lookout, especially with young kids experimenting with different things.”
If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, intervention services are available.
“We have Operation Angel. It’s a program where someone that is suffering from addiction can come to the sheriff’s office without fear of being arrested or charged criminally and they can surrender those drugs and get help,” said Sticker.
Officials are also warning the public about green fentanyl in its liquid form as it can be used to lace vaping products.
