Suspect in Damascus garden center vandalism comes forward to police, owners say

PORTLADN, Ore. (KOIN) — The owners of a family garden center in Damascus say a suspect has come forward after their store was vandalized nearly a week ago.

Surveillance video caught the moments someone walked up to Tony’s Garden Center on Oct. 10, causing up to $10,000 in damages.

“We did get a picture of them entering one of our greenhouses and coming out with some plants that they, I guess, took out to their car, because then it came back and went to another one and took more stuff,” owner Tony Karam recalled. “Then after that is when they kind of went on the little rampage of destroying and jumping up and down on pots and making a mess out of things.”

After working with police, the owners posted on their social media on Monday saying they were thankful the person responsible turned themselves in to the proper authorities.

However, they did not share the identity of the suspect or any charges they face.

KOIN 6 News has reached out to local officials for further information.
