TOPEKA (KSNT) – Ashley Pippin from Special Olympics Kansas joined the 27 News Morning Show to talk about its third annual Victory Gala.

The Victory Gala will feature live and silent auctions, dinner, drinks, dancing and inductions of athletes into the Hall of Fame. There will be a live performance by KC FLo, a band that travels the country and specializes in wedding and formal events.

The Victory Gala will start at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2025, at the Embassy Suites & Olathe Conference Center.

“It’s so amazing, like, obviously it’s so rewarding for us too, but for the athletes, it’s awesome to see their hard work pay off,” Pippin said.

Pippin previewed a volleyball tournament that will be held on Oct. 18 in Manhattan. The tournament will be followed by a unified basketball tournament on Oct. 25 at Washburn Rural Middle School. Pippin said unified means athletes with and without disabilities will be on the same team together.

Pippin talked about the recent Battle of the Badges event, a kickball tournament where local law enforcement and first responders team up for community engagement.
