Solitude Mountain Resort launches new ‘reserve pass’ that will let you skip lift lines

SOLITUDE, Utah (ABC4) — Solitude Mountain Resort, alongside seven other resorts owned by Alterra Mountain Company, is offering a new ‘reserve pass,’ an additional purchase that will allow you to skip lift lines.

For an additional price of $699 on top of the price for your pass, you can purchase the Solitude Reserve Pass. It gives you priority access to every lift except Honeycomb Return through a reserve lane, according to the Ikon Pass website.

Seven other resorts owned by Alterra Mountain Company are also offering reserve passes at varying prices. Solitude is actually the cheapest reserve pass option.

Here are other resorts offering the reserve pass and the prices. These prices are additional costs on top of the cost of an Ikon or local pass.

• Big Bear Mountain Resort (CA) — $1,299
• Crystal Mountain (WA) — $1,499
• Snowshoe (WV) — $1,499 (also includes VIP parking and first tracks on Saturdays and Sundays)
• Sugarbush Resort (VT) — $2,000 (also includes access to a new private lounge, a $100 food credit, and two discounted friends & family passes)
• Winter Park Resort (CO) — $999
• Blue Mountain (Canada) — $1,799 CAD (also includes parking and access to lounge)
• Tremblant (Canada) — $2,645 CAD (also includes VIP parking, ski valet service, and food/drink bundle)

This new option has proven to be controversial. A Change.org petition has been organized protesting the inclusion of the reserve pass for Crystal Mountain. That petition accuses Alterra Mountain Company of “creating a class-based system on the slopes” and urges them to look for alternative solutions to enhance visitor experience “without segregating customers based on financial ability.”
